The Human Rights Press Awards are a not-for-profit organisation based in Hong Kong. We recognise top rights-related reporting from around Asia.
The Awards are organised by The Foreign Correspondents’ Club Hong Kong.
The goal of the Awards is to increase respect for people’s basic rights and to focus attention on threats to those freedoms. We also aim to recognise and encourage excellent, investigative and original reporting on important issues in the mass media.
We receive hundreds of submissions every year, in English and Chinese, from across Asia.

The Human Rights Press Awards are a not-for-profit group.
We have no submission or processing fees. We also host all short-listed candidates, plus their editors and producers, at our annual Awards Luncheon at no cost.
We maintain this no-charge policy in order to make the Awards accessible to everyone.
Our judges – prominent figures in the fields of media, academia, law and NGO work – are volunteers. The Awards themselves are administered with minimal staffing.
The Awards exist thanks to the generous support of Mrs. Anne Marden and other private donors. In order to continue operating – and to continue growing – we will need additional support.
